Introduction to Tasks

Tasks assist in improving the decision-making, communication, efficiency, and effectiveness of a job/action.

Tasks can be performed by a user or the system. If a task is performed by the user, the user to whom the task is assigned to will receive a task and notification. If a task is performed by the system a user will be sent notification advising that the action is completed. The task will not be sent to a user, as the user has nothing to complete as the system takes care of it.

There are two different types of tasks that can be created:

  1. Generic tasks - tasks can be created by certain users and sent to any user for them to perform a certain action.

    The Generic tasks are:

    • Common Tasks.
    • Budget Tasks.
  2. System tasks - created by certain users for the system to perform "jobs" automatically.

    The system tasks are:

    • Clear System Logs.
    • Clear SQL Logs.
    • Clear Debug logs.
    • Create Budget Restore Point.
    • Delete Budget Restore Point greater than 30 days old.
    • Budget Approval - Complete.

To round out the task module/function a tasks widget can be added to dashboards.
