Reporting Platform / Comments

Comments can be used to set up various comment types. For example, you may wish to add comments for any YTD Variances.

All datasets have the following configuration elements:

Column Heading Description
Comment Type Enter the name you wish to call the Comment. For example, Budget Commentary or Variance Explanation. Enter PLANNER if you wish to display data entered in the Text Editor window in Planner Designer.
Subject If you enter a Subject name here a user will not need to enter a subject name to save their comment in Budgeting as the comment will automatically show the subject name you have entered here. If you wish to have the layer name in the comment subject enter [@Description] in the subject name. If you wish to have the Time Series in the comment subject enter [@TimeSeries] in the subject name.
Apply to Time Series Tick this if you wish to have the Comment saved to the Time Series being shown.
Apply Where Double click into the field to change the setting. If set to LOCAL the comment is saved against the specific drill path. If set to GLOBAL the comment will appear anywhere the layer that you set your comment to in the structure. For example, if you saved a comment against account 1000.Salaries the comment will appear where ever 1000.Salaries appears in the structure. If you wish to specify which layer users can enter comments set this option to CUSTOM.
Category Set to BUDGET if you want the comments in the Comments window to change as you navigate the Budget Entry window but not to change when you are navigating the Data Browser window. Set to BROWSER if you want the comments in the Comments window to change as you navigate the Data Browser window but not to change when you are navigating the Budget Entry window. Otherwise leave blank.
Enabled Layer If CUSTOM is selected in the Apply Where option choose the layer you wish users to enter comments at.
Comment Key If a layer has been selected in the Enabled Layer option enter the Layer Key found in Layer Parameters for the layer.
Default Font Name If a font style is selected this will have the Comment in Budgeting default to this style.
Default Font Size Budgeting default to this size.
Planner Tick this option if you have PLANNER entered in the Comment Type.
Load on Demand Tick this option if you have PLANNER entered in the Comment Type.
