Dataset / Layer Parameters¶
Layer Parameters defines the reporting structure for the dataset. Each parameter forms a layer on the navigation and/or filter tree.

All datasets have the following configuration elements:
| Parameter Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Navigation Settings | |
| Layer Fields | Enter a valid column name from the table in Table Name under dataset parameters. This will then display the layer detail for each layer shown in the navigation tree, data browser, chart window etc. |
| Layer Keys | Enter a unique key for each layer. It must be a valid column name form the table in the name under dataset parameters. |
| Layer Selection | Not Required. |
| Layer Group By | Not Required. |
| Layer Table | Not Required. |
| Layer Join | Not Required. |
| Is Layer Visible | Tick if you want the layer to appear on both the navigation tree and in filters. Leave unticked if the lasyer will available in Filters. Any layers that have this unticked need to be listed after all the layers that are visible (ticked). |
| Load on Startup | Ticking will pre-load the layer information when the dataset loads. If navigation on demand is set to YES. |
| Tree | |
| Dynamic Segment Name | Populating this with a segment name lets the tree module know that the values in this layer should be setup as a tree segment. |
| Overridge Segment Description | Populate with the segment description field for the Dynamic Tree Segment to use. |
| Revenue | |
| Positive Revenue Values | Positive Revenue will be applied where the layer is equal to these values. |
| Apply to layer | Positive Revenue will be applied to this layer. |
| Filter Settings | |
| Layer Keys | Not Required. |
| Layer Present Keys | Not Required. |
| Layer Selection | Not Required. |
| Layer Group By | Not Required. |
| Layer Order By | Enter a unique key to be used for sorting a layer shown in filters. It must be a valid column name from the table in Table Name under dataset permissions. If left blank the sort order will be alphabetic. |
| Split Name/Position | A description in these cells controls the starting point for each branch of the filter tree. If left blank the layer will roll up to the previous layer with a description in Split Name / Position. |
| Load on Startup | Ticking will pre-load the layer information when the dataset loads. If filers on demand is set to YES. |
| User Maintenance | |
| Layer Security Keys | Not required. |
| Security Split Name / Position | A description in these cells controls the starting point for each branch of the Security Filter tree. |
| Budget Settings | |
| Budgeting Layer | Tick to trigger the budget entry window to be populated with the layer determined by the budget display layer. |
| Budget Display Layer | Tick which layer will populate the budget entry window once the budgeting layer has been selected in the navigation tree. |
| Target Budget Entry Layer | Tick to select which layer is to have target budgets entered and saved against it. |
| Target Budget Layer Key | Enter the unique key that identifies the target budget entry layer. If blank, it will default to the layer key. |
| Target Budget Exclusion | Generally, not required. |
| Transaction Settings | |
| Layer Key | Enter the key to sepcify which transaction will be selected. Only enter if you have enabled transactions to be entered at more than one layer. If this is not the case Budgeting will use the Transaction Key in dataset parameters. |
| Display Layer | Tick to indicate which layer transactions can be fired from. |
| Auto Open | Tick to indicate whether or not the transaction will automatically open at this layer. |
| New Account | |
| Layer Fields | Enter a valid column name from the table in Table Name under DataSet Parameters (it must only reference one column in the table). When a new account is added, it will use the column provided here to make the complete table record. If left blank the Layer Fields will be used. |
| Layer Keys | Enter unique key from the table in Table Name under DataSet Parameters (it must only reference one column in the table). When a new account is added, it will use the key provided here to make the complete table record. If left blank the Layer Keys will be used. |
| Substring Parameters | Enter the substring parameters for the relevant account component. These parameters are used for adding new accounts in a Multi-Layer Budget configuration. |
| SQL Statements | Enter the SQL Statement for the relevant account Statements component. The SQL statement is then used to display the list of accounts to the user. |
| KPI | |
| Display Layer | Enter the Measure layer so that the system knows what the measure layer is for the KPI calculation. |
| Measure Layer | Enter the layers where the KPI will be displayed taking into account the calculation and weightings. |
Right Click Menu Items¶
Cell Editor - this will bring up another window allowing you to enter, edit and view long text.
Copy Layer - click in a cell for a layer you wish to copy. Copying will have [copy] to the right of the layer you are copied.
Insert Layer - create/insert a new layer.
Remove Layer - layer will immediately be removed.
Export to Export - exports all settings to excel.
Import from Excel - import changes or new layers.
Find - find / search for layers, filters etc.
Replace - find and replace words within the layer or columns.
