Budget Names / Multi Layer Budgets

Multi-layer budgets allow several layers to be used when grouping accounts in the Budget Entry Window in Budgeting.
It also allows the user to redistribute a budget based on the same ratio or allocation as another DataSet field. For example, Last Year Budget or Last Year Actuals.

All budgets have the following configuration elements:

Parameters

Parmaeter Name Description
Dataset Multi Layer Budgeting Select YES if Multi-Layer Budgets is required.
Insert Default Select YES if users wish to enter a budget at a top layer to have the amount distributed to a default account.
Default Colour This is the colour of the default account.
Distribution Field A default DataSet field can be selected here that will automatically redistribute any budget entered, based on the allocation of the DataSet field.
Budgeting Layer Select the layer that triggers the Budget Entry window to be populated with the layer determined by the Budget Display Layer.
Balancing Field This is similar to target budgeting where the inner layer cannot exceed the set balancing layer amount.
Select Balance Layer Amount From Target Budget Table Select YES or NO if you are using Targeting Budgeting in the Budget Name.
Supress Under Target Message Select YES or NO to display a message if under/over budget when a layer has been selected for Balancing Layer.
Custom Field Construction Select YES or NO to view the layer details by Constructions layer fields and keys.

Layers

Column Heading Description
Layer Name From the drop-down list select the layer that you wish to appear in the Budget Entry window.
Default Identifier Enter the default account if you have selected YES for Insert Defaults.
Colour Click in the cell to activate the colour palette, select a colour and click on OK to set the background colour for this field in the Budget Entry window.
Expand To Tick the last layer to be expanded to, usually the Account.
Locked Ticking locks users from entering amounts into these layers.
Balance Layer If you have ticked Select Balance Layer Amounts from Target Budget Table then nominate the layer that is to have the target budget loaded to.
Bold Tick if you want the layer to be bolded on the Budget Entry window.

Right click Menu Items

Cell Editor - this will bring up another window allowing you to enter, edit and view long text.

Insert - Create a new layer.

Copy - Copy an existing layer.

Remove - Delete a layer.
